Na venkov přijíždí malá desetiletá Katka, která se zde po sérii náhod nakonec zabydlí u strýčka Joža, převrátí mu jeho staromládenecký život na ruby, uklidí mu nejen chalupu, ale taky bude zažívat spolu s ním a jejími malými kamarády, které zde získá, nejedno dobrodružství.

A young boy runs away from the reformatory school, intending to look for his mother who lives in Athens and has been separated from his father for the last 5 years. The boy hides in a house where he becomes friends with a young girl and her brother. They hide him until he meets his parents again.

Soviet eighties. A little town in the periphery. After his parents' divorce, 11-year-old Rolanas and his dad move in next door to same-aged Emilija. Friendship is born between the kids, however, shyness or fear of opening up makes them communicate through the wall, sitting in their own balconies, or through a socket connecting their flats. Emilija's parents also appear to be on the verge of divorce. The children discover common topics, activities. Unfortunately, a nearly tragic accident prevents Emilija to go to the balcony. This encourages both children to set out for a "real" date.

De verhalen gaan over het duingebied achter het huisje. Volgens Jakobs opa zit er tover in dat land. Jakob vindt het prachtig, maar weet niet of hij de verhalen echt moet geloven. Als opa echter van het dak valt en ernstig ziek wordt, besluit Jakob op zoek te gaan naar een rode, houten zwaan uit opa’s jeugd. En dan blijken al opa’s verhalen waar…
